The EuroAfrica-ICT partnership and the University of Khartoum are very pleased to announce that the participants in the “15th Regional EuroAfrica-ICT FP7 Awareness Workshop” will have the opportunity to visit the following ICT laboratories:

1. The NOC of the Sudanese Universities Information Network (at the data centre of UofK ). This NOC operates an obtical fiber network that connects 30 universities located in all states in Sudan.  It centrally provides 150 Mbps (STM1-1) of Internet bandwidth to the universities and research centres.  It also hosts many academic systems such as online registeration for students and universities websites and web applications
2. The laboratories of the Future University
3. The National Data Centre at the Telecom Tower, where e-government and several national ICT projects are hosted (this visit is organised by both UofK and Sudan University of Science and Technology)
4. An exihibition of innovative ICT research works of Sudanese students and graduates (prize winners of final year projects).

These visits will take place on April 7, 2011 in the afternoon:

• 13.00: The NOC of the Sudanese Universities Information Network (at UofK ) and the Labs of the Future University (participants will be asked to choose between one of the two visits)
• 14:00: Lunch at the Telecom Tower (offered by the Ministry of Communication and IT of Sudan
• 15:00: The National Data Centre and the exhibition of innovative ICT research works (both located at the Telecom Tower)

Participants are also invited for a Nile cruise by the Ministry of Communication and IT of Sudan (16:00-18:00).
