1st EURO-AFRICA Cooperation Forum

Co-organised by the European Commission (EC) and the African Union Commission (AUC)

and ICT research organisations are being brought together!

Conference Agenda

Day 1 - Implementation of the Africa-EU Partnership (#8) for Science, Information Society & Space - Status & Perspectives
Day 2 - Strengthening Cooperation on ICT Research between Europe & sub-Saharan Africa - Guidance & Support

The Forum will feature:

  • An Opening Session - Czech Presidency and EC/AUC Commissioners
  • A Keynote Session - European and African Member State Ministries
  • A Session introducing related Programmes - DG INFSO / DG RESEARCH / DG DEV / ACP Secretariat / etc.
  • A Round Table - Private and public sector partnerships, experiences and lessons learned, etc.
  • A comprehensive introduction to the FP7/ICT Work Programme (status, perspectives, modalities, etc.)
  • Thematic ICT sessions

 

Call for Communications

Conference Day 2 offers a limited number of speaking slots for researchers and scientists excelling in their respective (ICT) activity field. A selection committee will evaluate the received proposals and invite the selected candidates to present their work at the event. Abstracts focusing on the ICT themes outlined in FP7 will be given priority, namely:

  • Pervasive and trusted network and service infrastructures
  • Cognitive systems, interaction and robotics
  • Components, systems and engineering
  • Digital libraries and content
  • Sustainable and personalised healthcare
  • Mobility, environmental sustainability and energy efficiency
  • Independent living and inclusion
  • Future and emerging technologies

Submit your abstract by January 31, 2009 online.
